Six: First, we need three cakes – one ice cream cake with a rainbow swirl on top and Kit Kats, one banana ice cream cake with a rainbow swirl on top and Kit Kats on the side, and one cake.
Mom: Are we inviting your entire grade?
Six: No, just Hudson, Grayson, Tyson, Donovan, Ethan R., Ethan K., Carolyn, and Max.
Mom: That should be enough cake. For the final cake, do you want vanilla or chocolate?
Six: [Stares off into space].
Mom: Okay, we’ll circle back on that one.
Six: And lots of decorations. Decorations everywhere – in the kitchen, in my bedroom, everywhere.
Mom: But it’s an outdoor party; it’s a pool party.
Six: I just think they go better in my bedroom.
Mom: Got it; we’ll move all the decorations inside.
Six: And swords. We’re going to have sword fights.
Mom: How about bubbles?
Six: Do the bubbles have swords?
Mom: No, but they light up.
Six: Thumbs up.
Mom: What about food?
Six: Oh, that’s okay, we don’t eat.
Mom: Yes, I realize that as a general rule, but we still need to offer our guests food.
Six: Okay. Pizza and bagels with cream cheese. But Hudson can’t eat cheese, Ethan K. only eats fruit cups, Ethan R. only eats hamburgers, and Carolyn only eats spanakopita.
Mom: Maybe we should have your birthday at a diner?
Six: And everyone will stay until past my bedtime.
Mom: Everyone can stay until three.
Six: There might be a small problem with that.
Mom: What’s the problem?
Six: That won’t be enough time to find all the Hot Wheels that you’re going to hide in the backyard.
Mom: What if we hide the Kit Kats?
Six: Mom [big hug], this is going to be the best birthday ever.
Mom: It certainly is.
I love this so much ❤️ I had a smile on my face the whole way through. Happy birthday River!
That is funny and adorable! Love it!
