It is not without some excitement, trepidation, and delight that I share some news:

Book One, A Cub Called Crash of the Crash the Cub book series will be released on September 5, 2024, and is available for pre-order. It would mean the WORLD to me if you pre-ordered now because it tells booksellers and bookstores that this is a story parents want to read to their children.

I’m so happy to be able to reveal the series covers as well (Books 2 and 3 are due out early Oct and Nov respectively):

From the seed of an idea to the often-painstaking painting of a watercolor (which often, quite literally, means watching paint dry), through the editorial process, it takes years to create a picture book and see it make its way out into the world.

The Crash stories were born out of happy hours I spent watching the bears of Katmai National Park on explore.org’s brown bear cams. The cams provide a unique window into a wild habitat whose precious ecosystem must never be compromised. And while the cubs are adorable, funny, playful, and mischievous, they also engage in the very serious business of survival.

I wanted to create something for children that would be as entertaining as the bear cubs, as unwavering as a child exploring the world, and educational and in support of the very real responsibility that we all have to ensure the survival of wild animals and their habitats.

It’s been a labor of love and I hope it brings you and your family as much joy to read as it gave me to create.
